Last summer we helped raise over $20 000 for Project Agatha in Colombia to help youth with Autism.
This year our efforts will be towards Autism Support Services for Santiago. Our Tri-Hart members have already helped raise funds with their monthly fees and some are participating in a few triathlon, running and swimming races/events this summer to help this project go further.
Our goal is this summer is to reach $20,000 to help Santiago continue his growth and development.
At the age of about two-and-a-half, Santi was flagged for Autism. Some signs of autism started to be identified, including delayed language and motor skills, focused attention on spinning objects, and other behaviors that didn't quite add up. Soon after, he started receiving support from the Niagara Children's Centre and in December 2020, in the middle of Covid, Santiago received an official diagnosis of being on the Autism Spectrum.
Since then, Santiago has received support from Government programs but that funding will be exhausted in the coming months. Santiago receives ABA therapy at GAIN Learning Centre in Fonthill. It has helped him grow in a number of areas including speech, social engagement skills, and regulating emotions. Santiago's family is very grateful for the amazing work done at GAIN, and would like to continue his therapy there one to two days per week!
Coach Lee Hart raced at Muskoka 70.3 July 10th to a fantastic finish!
Raul will be racing a full Ironman August 28th in Penticton B.C. He's training hard and smart to accomplish his goal!
Book a swim session with Coach Susie. 60% of the fee will be directed towards supporting Project Santiago.
